Change is coming

There’s a lot going on at Vocalocity, much of what I’d love to blog about and cannot. Bummer. I’m sure the industry grapevine might have it gotten it right or wrong, but one day soon I’ll be able to talk more details hopefully. So stay tuned, lots of interesting things in the works.

On another topic, I’ve finally gotten really settled into my MacBook Pro running Intel Dual Core processor. I’ve upgraded to 2GB so I can run parallels in parallel! I blogged before about VMWare. I think Parallels is almost a better option at this point. It’s very powerful, fast and cheap (pre-order was $39 US). I just pre-ordered the GA copy after being very happy with the successions of Beta releases they’ve done and how fast the product is improving and features are being introduced. I’ve been able to load without any major issues Centos 4.1 and Windows XP. I’m also pretty excited about installing Sun Solaris x86 10 as well as Windows 2003 server.

I’ve talked a lot lately that I believe the Mac is going to make a pretty major comeback and hurt Microsoft. I think that cross-platform development, from an engineering viewpoint, is now really possible with the Mac. With a mac, you get all the benefits of a really slick, easy to use UI and the underlying power of a Unix-based kernel. My mac has never crashed in the past 4 weeks since I’ve had it – compare that to my old XP machine. Entourage in my opinion is so much better than Outlook, even though both are made by Microsoft. And Spotlight, wow, what a wonderful search tool.
